40 Years of Austin Books & Comics! – Week 30

Austin Books & Comics 40 Year Anniversary
2017 marks 40 years of your favorite local comic book store, Austin Books & Comics! In celebration of this, we’re having special weekly features including fan questions, videos, and more!

We have lots of fun stuff planned throughout the year, so check back weekly for more fun!

We recently asked, What is your favorite superhero costume change?

What’s your favorite? Share in our brand new message boards!

I really liked Cyclops’ look from Marvel Now! The red and black is a little meaner and shows that he’s not just the wussy boy scout anymore.

-Dave R.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman’s New 52 update was subtle, but I liked the dark blue and silver changes on the suit. Made it feel more modern while keeping the classic look.

-Ellen P.

Lady Thor

Lady Thor

Lady Thor! It has the distinct colors and features of Thor while also being totally her own hero.

-Paul E.

Olivier Coipel’s redesign of Thor brought him into the modern age. The mail armor and yellow lightning bolt-looking details are a nice touch.

-Steven S.

Annihilation took Drax the Destroyer from goofy looking 70s cosmic character into an awesome edgy look. Plus Dave Bautista totally ruled in Guardians of the Galaxy.

-Alex K.

Bucky Captain America

Bucky Captain America

One of my favorite parts of Ed Brubaker’s classic Captain America run was Bucky taking up the shield. It combined a distinctly “Captain America” look, but the black part incorporated his spy/black ops history into the design.

-Patrick K.

Hawkguy! Simple, yet effective.

-Sarah N.

@AustinBooks mind giving a local creator a signal boost? My Kickstarter is at almost $15,000! Lots of unlocked stretch goals, and a killer guest pinup section! We just announced this piece by Jeff Smith today.

Thanks so much! https://t.co/zrspQ0FeHM

Our hope is that this could inspire other creators and publishers to do the same to help out other local comic shops https://t.co/qVSIz06GBr AustinBooks photo
