Last Week’s Results:

What is your favorite non-superhero comic?

Saga (an essential Science Fiction epic)

From Hell (Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s Jack the Ripper story and a perfect combination of History and Drama.)

Wytches (The most unforgettable horror comic I’ve read in forever, Scott Snyder and Jock’s art are the stuff of nightmares. )

Maus (Art Spiegleman’s masterpiece and THE book that really opened my eyes on what comics could accomplish as a medium.)

American Splendor (There once was a file clerk in Cleveland.)

The Acme Novelty Library (Chris Ware’s work of metafiction that should have certainly been on any listing of the 100 greatest works of fiction of the 20th Century in Time Magazine alongside Watchmen.)

Any early back issues of Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories
with Carl Barks Donald Duck stories, a timeless read for any age.)

Monstress (Just read it already, You won’t regret it.

-Charles Cunyus

“The Butcher of Paris” and “Basketful of Heads” are really good.

-Anthony Ortiz

Gideon Falls without a doubt! That smiley face dude is creepy. Add Andrea Sorrentino art. Gold!!

-Darnell W.

“Satellite Sam” by Fraction/Chaykin. Absorbing period-piece with great fast dialogue and layers of adult oriented story-line. Much like “The Big Lebowski”, the plot gets lost in the elements, but the world is so fun to get caught up in that the reader shouldn’t really care.

-Kel

Saga
Unwritten
Wasteland
Low
Black Science

-Tom Zoda

gideon falls.

Love the story and the art work. Big fan of horror and this series is simply got you questioning which way it will it go.

Important Health Update

New Rules and NOTICE!

We are open now with new comics!

You will be required to wear a mask to shop in any of the Fandom stores. We are hoping to receive a large number of them soon from ATXSupply. Please provide your own if at all possible. We will be wearing masks for your safety. Please do us the same courtesy.

We will only allow 10 CUSTOMERS AT A TIME in Austin Books. Guzu has a limit of 4 and Outlaw Moon has a limit of 3. This is per the current Occupancy Load mandate of 25% capacity.

Yes, we will continue to do an online pull list. This will change at some point when we’ve completely transitioned to our new Point of Sale System — which you can see HERE.

We will also be inputting customers into our Point of Sale System for Special Orders, Pre-Orders and Ongoing Pulls. This is optional but, if you plan to take advantage of this service, fill out THIS FORM on our website and get ahead of the rush!

Wednesday is still new comic book day (NCBD.)

Store hours are going to be limited until situations normalize. Wednesdays we will be open 11-7. All other days will be 1pm – 7pm until further notice. Updates will be included in weekly emails as well as through social media platforms. You may also call the store at 512-454-4197 for the most up to date information.

We have canceled all after hours gaming, art shows and events. Oh, and Free Comic Book Day is delayed until later in the year on a date yet to be determined. (We still don’t know.)

Health and safety are very important to us and we’re taking precautions to ensure a safe shopping environment. We also understand that we provide much needed entertainment and escapism during difficult times. That’s why we’re administering high levels of caution to provide you with a safe place to get your reading materials.

Only healthy employees are working (we’re all healthy at this time). We’re washing our hands regularly and using strong cleaning supplies on the front counter, register, credit card machines and all regularly used equipment.

We are still offering curbside delivery with payment by PayPal (info@austinbooks.com), Venmo (https://venmo.com/austinbooks) or Credit Card. Just follow the instructions online Or call ahead (512-454-4197) and make arrangements. We can also ship your comics directly to you. You can also prepay for your order thru https://stores.comichub.com/austinbookscomics/.

Be safe. Shop safe.
We will get through this together.

@AustinBooks mind giving a local creator a signal boost? My Kickstarter is at almost $15,000! Lots of unlocked stretch goals, and a killer guest pinup section! We just announced this piece by Jeff Smith today.
