About Night Owl Society
High School sucks! He’s never kissed a girl, his best friend is the school chaplain, and the only other friend he has was just killed by a notorious mob boss. Armed with nothing but a homemade mask, a few misfit friends and an overdeveloped sense of right and wrong, sixteen year-old David Foxworth sets out balance the karma in his life without getting killed… or grounded.
The co-creator of recent smash-hit God Country is a fast-rising star in the comics industry. Stop in and get the new series debut signed before it also becomes a sold-out rarity. Cates is one of the most enthusiastic guests we’ve ever hosted, so be sure to ask him about his work!
The Bowmans are VAMPIRES who have quietly run the local barbecue joint in their small town for years, living off cow’s blood. Their peaceful coexistence ends as generations of hate, fear, and bad blood bubble to the surface–making it impossible to separate man from monster!
Critically acclaimed writer DONNY CATES (GOD COUNTRY) and artist LISANDRO ESTHERREN serve up the tale of a DIFFERENT kind of family just trying to get by, deep in the heart of Texas.
On Wednesday, March 29th, we will be joined by artist Val Mayerik and Jim Berry for a signing of their new hardcover graphic novel about the Battle of Little Big Horn, Of Dust and Blood. The graphic novel is not yet available to the direct market, so this is a wonderful opportunity to get it early, and get it signed by both the artist and writer!
About Of Dust and Blood:
OF DUST AND BLOOD: A Story from Custer’s Fight at The Greasy Grass, is an original graphic novel from writer Jim Berry and veteran illustrator Val Mayerik. The story details the day of The Battle At The Little Big Horn through the eyes of Greenhaw, a 7th Cavalry scout on one side of the battlefield, and Slowhawk, a young Lakota warrior on the other.
The book focuses on a compelling drama while also being as historically accurate as possible via quotes and documented actions on every page. There will be featured appearances by the famous protagonists of the day – G.A. Custer, Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse – but we’ve chosen to focus on two fictional characters, and use them as lenses to show what it might have been like on that hot afternoon in 1876 for two ordinary men pressed into battle.
